Series | The Wisdom of Proverbs, Part 2
Scripture | Proverbs 20:7, “The righteous lead
blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.”
Lesson 10 | A Blameless Life
If I had a dollar for every time someone said
to me, “But no nobody is perfect,” I’d be a rich man by now! The Bible is crystal clear from front to back
that the children of God are to live blameless lives, “without sin.” Ofcourse, man in his sinful state cannot be
anything but an imperfect mess, however, by God’s grace (His active and
enabling power) man can live without sin, “holy.”
Jesus said in Matthew 5:48, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly
Father is perfect.” Also, Peter in
the New Testament reiterated what God said in Leviticus 11:44, “Be holy, for I am holy.” Concerning man’s sinful nature and
imperfection, Paul plainly states in Romans 6:6 that it was crucified when
we’re born again, “For we know that our
old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done
away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.”
Therefore, what King Solomon, Moses, Paul,
Peter, and Jesus said must be fully obeyed!
Now someone might ask, “What happens if I do sin after being born again?” John the apostle gives the perfect answer in
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he
is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness.” Thus, if we do sin after being born again we are to
repent and be forgiven.
We are warned to “not go on sinning willfully” by
the author of Hebrews in Hebrews 10:26 and said to be “children
of the devil” by John if we “keep on sinning” in 1 John 3:8-9. Therefore, by God’s grace, we as righteous
people should live blameless lives and in doing so we will be a tremendous blessing
to our children.
Here are three simple ways to lead a blameless-sin-free life, (1) Be born again, (2) Repent of all known sin, and lastly, (3) By the power of the Holy Spirit keep all of God’s commands. Repeat #2 and #3 until you get to heaven.

Reflection | Do you lead a blameless life?
Action | (1) Do you believe you can live without sin as the Bible teaches? (2) If and when you sin, be quick to repent and be free from sin’s power, presence, and penalty. (3) Lastly, keep God’s commands, including repentance, all the days of your life for your children’s sake.
