Purpose Filled Life
Scripture | Hebrews 9:27, “Just as people are destined to die once, and
after that to face judgment.”
Lesson 6 | What Happens After I Die?
After your body dies your
soul with be judged by God and consigned to hell or blessed with heaven. Then after Jesus comes to earth and judges
the world, hell will be thrown into the lake of fire for eternity and heaven’s
citizens will live forever on the new earth with Jesus, Revelation 20:13-21:1.
The Bible is very clear
that there are no other options. Such
things as “purgatory” and “reincarnation” are only myths promoted by false
teachers. Roman Catholic priests, with a heart of greed, developed purgatory in the Dark Ages as a way for their members to give "indulgences" to the church and free their lost loved ones from hell. And reincarnation is a demonic lie with its
roots in Hindu paganism.
As a result, what you do
here in this life will determine where you will be for all of eternity. Everyone will exist in the after life, both
the wicked and the righteous, however, where they will be is determined by
their acceptance or rejection of God’s Word.
Some skeptics question
God’s goodness to allow eternal souls to be forever tortured in the lake of
fire. However, I thank God for His judgments
because they display the glory of His might, Revelation 15:3-4. God wouldn’t be a good God if He simply
overlooked evil and He wouldn't be all-powerful if He couldn’t remove people
from His presence that rejected Him in their life.
Therefore, eternal
damnation displays both the justice and power of God. Plus, I have never met a person who disliked
the thought of God’s punishment that didn’t also know about the love of God
displayed on the cross of Jesus Christ.
In turn, the eternal punishment of God is also fully justified by the loving
universal call of God for everyone to be saved, 2 Peter 3:9.
One day you will “meet
your maker” and where you go is your choice!
I choose Jesus and heaven! What
do you choose?
Reflection | Where will you go when you die?
Action | (1) Come to Jesus and be born again if you haven’t already, John 3:3. (2) Repent of any sins you may be hiding in your heart. (3) Lastly, live everyday by faith in Jesus Christ and obey all of God’s commands!
